Reader Budget Tips - Part 2
In September we looked at the first three steps to the budgeting process. This month we wanted to share some reader feedback. For those looking for the Cliff Notes version of our reader feedback, the key points are listed below. Interestingly, all of these comments fall under at least one of the key financial principles we covered in our June newsletter:
- Give first
- Have a plan
- Know where you are
- Wait before making big decisions
- Give and save before spending
- Have a finish line
- Be disciplined
- Be content
Reader Feedback
Those points pretty well cover all the important basic financial issues. To determine which tips might be helpful to you, ask “Do I” or “Am I” before each statement. If you can answer “yes” to each one, then you are on the right financial track. If not, then determine the next step to successfully improve in those areas.
One interesting suggestion was to equalize giving and saving which could be helpful for those who might need some balance on one side or the other.
Next month we will look at Step Four of the budgeting process – Tracking Your Progress.
